Starting Over

17454f2a14d217fcd9989e2bf72e4443We are constantly starting over. Whether it is at a new job or school, in a new home, or even smaller things like preparing food from scratch the second time...after your cake flopped. This week I made a tough choice to switch blogging platforms. I have spent hours the past few days trying to make my site better and it's frustrating. Read more after the jump!

What's In My Beach Bag

The amount of things in my  beach bag is actually ridiculous. However, you never know when you're going to need a handful of bobby pins or a hairbrush! What are your must-haves for the beach? What's in My Beach Bag

3 Statement Necklaces You'll Actually Wear More Than Once

I always see these outfits in magazines and on other blogs that have these wild statement necklaces. I always ask myself, how may outfits does that necklace really go with? The answer, not more than a couple. I found three necklaces for under $150 that can be worn in a million different ways, from a tshirt and a pair of boyfriend jeans and cute flats or heels, to a tea-length dress with a cute clutch. The best part about these necklaces are the colors. They are bright but are muted enough that they can be worn with other colors. Would you try a statement piece like this?

DIY Specimen Tray

I love collecting everything from beads and crystals, to glass shells and rocks. I never had anywhere to put them except in random jars and plastic bags, so I came up with this really simple DIY where they can all be in the same place.

DIY Specimen Tray

I love collecting everything from beads and crystals, to glass shells and rocks. I never had anywhere to put them except in random jars and plastic bags, so I came up with this really simple DIY where they can all be in the same place.
You Will Need:
~Mini match boxes (find them at the $1 store)
~Thick cardboard
~Any type of glue (I used a hot glue gun)
~Your specimen (rocks, crystals, shells, glass, beads, etc.)

1) Remove the covers and matches from your boxes (6).
2) Arrange the boxes in the formation you like (I did a 2x3 arrangement).
3) Move the arrangement on top of your cardboard and trace the perimeter.
4) Cut the cardboard to size and glue down the boxes.
5) After dry, place your specimen in the different compartments and place on a shelf, desk, or windowsill.

WHITE HOT

Monochromatic white outfits have been abundant on the runways lately from designers like Alberta Ferrertti and Ellery. The look can be achieved by pairing different shades of white and cream together in an outfit. Tops and bottoms can be either boxy or flowy, but try to keep most accessories structural, otherwise you may look lost in the outfit. Also keep in mind texture and fabric. Mix leathers with knits and add gold or silver hardware pieces, like a belt or a statement cuff, to bring interest into a certain part of the outfit. You can shop the look below.

Versace Resort 2014

Versace's Resort 2014 collection brings a modern twist to the expected getaway attire. Parings of stripes and checks with florals and solids in the same outfit, not only works, it's genius. Risqué cuts were added to traditional boxy jackets and knit tops to add appeal. Every piece is interchangeable with the next, which begs the customer to purchase the whole collection, rather than a piece or two.

For day, Donatella exchanged the traditional colors of navy and white, for candy-colored pinks, yellows and blues. She paired blocks of solid colors with stripes, checks and florals. Boxy sixties style miniskirts and cropped menswear inspired jackets blend well with more modern slouchy minidresses and matching clutches.
For night, Donatella went for the classic bold, body hugging shapes but with a black, tangerine and scarlet color palette. The apparel ranges from suits with cropped jackets, to miniskirts and dresses.

Tropical Escape

This past week, I won a trip to see Brad Paisley and Chris Young in West Palm Beach this coming week, but first, I will be going on vacation to the beach in New Jersey! I am trying to mentally prepare for my trips this week. I'm not sure how much time or internet connection I will have this next week, so I may not be posting too much. However, keep an eye out for posts on my Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! Have a great week! :)

Free People's latest video, The Neighbor, starring Daisy Lowe, is about a girl who tries to impress her neighbor who lives across from her. Best of all, are her clothes. Like oh my god. She wears everything from cute bralettes and stretchy ruched shorts, to burned velvet kimonos and whispy layering slips.

Primping All Proper

Getting ready for summer is no easy task. We're baring more skin, looking more "natural" and working with less layers and actual clothes to achieve that perfect style. So what do we do to make sure we're pulled together? Primp up! Between the hair care, pedicures (and what to do if you're to busy to get that done), getting that perfect braid and that perfect make up for your "natural look" without spending a fortune there's a lot to do! This week's roundup has a good mix of where to get all your beauty needs, and where to find the perfect accessories to go with that simple summer dress!

Kate Ruggiero of Gypsy Hawaii, a colorful lingerie line, moved from New York to Hawaii six years ago. Everything is hand cut and hand sewn. Kate describes Hawaii as, "a source of inspiration and the perfect place to daydream.

When asked when she decided to start selling her underwear, she said, "I have a background in fashion and photography and when I moved out to Hawaii I spent a lot of time daydreaming and sketching and for some reason I felt like learning to sew again. I knew a bit when I was younger but wanted to really learn again. For my birthday, a few close friends gifted me with a cute little vintage machine. I wanted to make bikini bottoms and started working with jersey fabric and creating my perfect pair. I cut apart several different designs and kept testing out the fit until I created a style I loved.

Slowly my friends wanted pairs, and then with the help of my very talented friend, Daeja Fallas, we decided to photograph the pieces for fun for a lookbook. I honestly had no intention of starting a business. I really didn’t decide to do so until I tried them out on a First Friday event in the Arts District of Chinatown. A small boutique there called ETown Studios did a launch party for the pieces and it was the first time I could see how people would respond. They sold really well and sold out within the first few weeks in the boutique. It has been such an adventure and I love that I try to really hold onto the truth of it, that I never really started it with the intention of making money. Simply put, I just want to make beautiful things and enjoy it. And that being said, my friend Daeja truly pushed me to follow my heart and start the business."

FULL OF WONDER

“An important lesson has been understood. Now something full of wonder will unfold. When a cycle has completed itself, your energy field expands to encompass new things. Now you will learn to be more attentive to what develops right from the start, thus gaining a higher perspective… Allow your consciousness to carry you into the dimension that wants to be explored as you cross the threshold.”
