Up & Coming Trends: Exposed Bras

When I sat down with Free People's President, Meg Hayne, she told me one of her favorite up and coming trends is the exposed bra. She loves lace detailing and caged bras especially!Meg said she loves not only low armholes, but also exaggerated low backs and even plunging necklines. The word that she used to describe this look is 'provocative,' but that is not to be confused with what she said is, "Some college girl who wants to wear a tight dress to show off her body. Not slutty."24963324_001_e If you want to try this out, here are a few good options:

FPme #fallchallenge

I'm so excited to show you guys my entries for Free People's FPme Fall Challenge! If you don't know what FPme is, it's Free People's social community which allows girls to upload their own pictures of them styled in Free People clothing!--I like to think of it as an Instagram for Free People addicts like myself! I was invited by Free People to take part in their Fall Challenge which is to style their LA Nite Tank and Beanie.

Screen Shot 2013-10-17 at 12.31.38 PMMy first look was grunge inspired with a bohemian twist. I layered the Lucy Button Front Maxi Slip over the LA Nite Tank with another slip underneath the tank. I added the Vintage Jacquard Pants for an unexpected texture, along with the Donovan boots which add a toughness to the look, as does the Knit Hooded Denim Jacket. The last piece added to my look is the Antalya Coin Collar for depth and detail! You can heart this look HERE.

For my second look, I paired the LA Nite Tank with the Floral Flyaway Skirt (<3). I added my own knee-high boots, the Antalya Coin Collar, and Knit Hooded Denim Jacket for structure. You can heart this look HERE.

For my third look, I wore the LA Nite Tank, Vintage Jacquard Pants, and Donovan Boots, and added a chunky scarf and the FP One Golden Age Top backwards as a cardigan. You can heart this look HERE.

Red Red Wine

My favorite thing about Fall besides cozy sweaters and boots is that outfit color palettes get deeper and richer. Red has been my favorite color since before I can remember. It is an intense color that represents power, passion, confidence and courage. Kelly is wearing my go to Circle In the Sand Shirt  from Free People, which falls gracefully and is a great layering piece. I chose to style it with Natalie B. Jewelry's Fit For A Queen necklace, black leggings from H&M and Ankle Chelsea Boots from Anthropologie. IMG_2377IMG_2368IMG_2372IMG_2383IMG_2379IMG_2382

Oversized Tees

freefit1 | 2 | 3

I'm really into oversized tees right now. They are so comfy it's ridiculous, and they can be styled in a million different ways. Dress them up or down, and you're sure to look super cool.  Free People has a bunch of different styles including striped, stoned washed, low-back, butterfly and the popular hi-low hemline. --I'm usually not a fan of hi-low hemlines (especially on dresses) however, it gives a normal tee an edgier look.

Dancing Gypsy

I love creating outfits that have bohemian accents like coins, tassels and intricate embroidery. This particular dress from Calypso St. Barth is great because it has flattering lines and is a length that shows off the legs. It also has beautiful cascading gold embroidery that works well with the clutch I chose from Anthropologie, and the stack of bangles I found at Free People. The Jeffrey Campbell boots have just enough hardware to be used in a dressier look and the chunky heel gives height and lengthens the legs. Also, the boots provide a bit of a tough edge. Everything in this outfit can be easily worked into a number of outfits, making them great investment pieces!
