Fall Trends feat. Isabel Marant

To me, Fall is the best season as far as fashion. It is a transitional season from warm to cooler weather where you can get away with basically any outfit you'd like. My favorite thing to do is layer summer dresses under sweaters and tunics.

DIY Specimen Tray

I love collecting everything from beads and crystals, to glass shells and rocks. I never had anywhere to put them except in random jars and plastic bags, so I came up with this really simple DIY where they can all be in the same place.

I love collecting everything from beads and crystals, to glass shells and rocks. I never had anywhere to put them except in random jars and plastic bags, so I came up with this really simple DIY where they can all be in the same place.

You Will Need:

~Mini match boxes (find them at the $1 store)

~Thick cardboard

~Any type of glue (I used a hot glue gun)

~Your specimen (rocks, crystals, shells, glass, beads, etc.)

1) Remove the covers and matches from your boxes (6).

2) Arrange the boxes in the formation you like (I did a 2x3 arrangement).

3) Move the arrangement on top of your cardboard and trace the perimeter.

4) Cut the cardboard to size and glue down the boxes.

5) After dry, place your specimen in the different compartments and place on a shelf, desk, or windowsill.

Washed Ashore

I am completely obsessed with this catalog. It is so magical and is a perfect way for my mind to get into the slow Summer mode. Model, Behati Prinsloo, resembles a washed up mermaid from the deep sea. I wish I could look like that! ;)

DIY: Dried Flower Wall Hanging

I love the look of dried flowers, so I came up with this DIY to incorporate the natural process of drying flowers and home decor. Everything to make it can be found outside or at any grocery store. :)

What You Will Need: Fresh flowers, a large stick or branch, 3 12 inch fabric strips, rubber bands, embroidery floss.

 1) Bundle your flowers together in groups of three or more by color or however you'd like. Secure each bundle with a rubber band.

2) Lay out your stick and flower bundles as if they were hanging from the wall, and tie the fabric strips to the stick and the flower bundles. 

3) Trim off any excess fabric and tie a piece of embroidery thread or string from one end of the stick to the other for hanging.

For this festival outfit, I wanted to stick to Free People's products, because they embody what festivals are all about, which is having a carefree time in comfortable and stylish clothes. When I think of festivals and what I would wear, I think of color. Lots of color. I often wear grays and blacks because that is what I'm drawn to when I'm shopping, so I want to stray from that and give off that sunny Summer day vibe. 

The first item I picked was this gorgeous lightly tie dyed tank dress, which features a slightly asymmetrical hemline. It's a great base piece and because the colors are faint, a lot can be paired with it.  Next I picked this leather hip belt which I saw at the store the other day. It's made from really soft but durable leather. I was inspired by a look that I saw Chloe Chippendale from Sugarhigh + Lovestoned wear a while back. She paired a short black dress with a hip belt, and I thought it was genius.

From here, I picked the under garments. I love these lace bike shorts because they add a little bit of detail to the legs as well as being functional when the wind blows. I also chose this periwinkle lace bralette again for the detail, but also for the color and comfort. Next I chose these really modern looking hot pink sandals! They look like they'd be super comfy and add a nice unexpected pop of color. Lastly, I chose the Indian Bell bracelets to give the outfit a bit of interest. I feel like every time I look at these bracelets, I discover something new about them.

I feel that this outfit is fully functional and comfortable without sacrificing style and purpose! Would you wear it? Share your thoughts below. :)

DIY Marbled Nail Polish Easter Eggs

This morning I decided to decorate some eggs for tomorrow, and made some marbled ones. The steps are below, and it is really easy to do!

 1) (Not Shown) Blow out eggs. Start by poking holes in either end of the egg with your needle and blow on it until all of the egg come out. Rinse it off.

2) Fill a container or bowl you don't care about with water deep enough to let the egg sit in it comfortably. Drop different colors of nail polish on to the top of the water and swirl it around with your needle.

 3) Dip the egg into the water carefully, and move it slowly to catch the nail polish design.

4) Carefully remove the egg from the water and place it on a paper towel to dry.

Note: After each egg, be sure to clean the top of the water so that it is free of any left over nail polish that has dried.

 Place your eggs in a bowl for a centerpiece or around the house for pops of color! They are all unique and because you blew them out, they can be used again next year. :)
